Jacob Bailey, a member of the celebrated 1st Combat Camera Squadron at Charleston AFB, S.C., was deployed to Iraq in 2004 and again in 2006 where he captured and transmitted more than 12,000 real-time digital photographs of combat operations. In 2004, he was distinguished as the Department of Defense's Military Photographer of the Year and 1st Combat Camera Photographer of the Year. He followed up in 2005 with an Honorable Mention in DoD's Military Photographer of the Year competition and finished as Runner up in 1st Combat Camera's Photographer of the Year competition. More than 100 of Bailey's unique images have been utilized by international photo agencies including the Associated Press, Reuters, and Agence France-Presse. In addition to areas of conflict, he has also documented humanitarian relief efforts in 2005, namely Hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Wilma. Bailey currently calls Syracuse, NY home where he is currently enrolled in the Military Photojournalism Program at Syracuse University.
